My Dad’s brother, Calvin’s family
My dad’s brother, Calvin married Mitch Buttery's daughter Alice. Some time later Dad married Mae her sister. Then when Nola, (dads sister) got married, she married Garfield Mitch’s son. They are Sisters. Brother Calvin had seven girls and 1 boy, Wright, The girls were Mable, Sidle, Myrtle, Rethia, Lois, June and Ruth, We have already mention dads and Mae’s children. When their last baby was boy born, Mae told dad that he could not raise these 7 children and this baby. Give this baby to Nola and Garfield s since they don't have children. So dad honored her request and Nola and Garfield took the baby Joe Bedford and raised him. (My dad named Joe after his own dad)
Uncle Calvin's daughter Mabel, who married Clay Green had 12 children. The twelfth child died at birth. When Calvin and aunt Alice moved to Pressman’s Home Mable and clay moved into their house. It joined our farm there on HWY 66. I grew up with all of their children. Wright, Randall, Byron, Kenneth, Anne Lee, Carlene, Niota, Clay, O’Neil, Luke and Vanda. Mabel and Clay had more children than any of the couple's mentioned in our story. There are more things we may mention.
One of uncle Calvin's daughters Louis and her husband, had a girl named Betty Joe and a boy named Elmer. They were about my age.
