The Harrison family

One daughter in Dr. William Bradford's family was Myrtle, my dad’s sister. Myrtle, married George Harrison. This is the connection of the Harrisons to the Horner family. As dad used to say, “lets see” I failed to mention Phil Harrison when I was telling about the other boys, Phil is still in Sneedville Tennessee, where he owns and operates a hardware store and farms.

The following is some detail of the family group sheet for the George W. Harrison family provided by Phil Harrison:

Other Notes:

Children of George W. Harrison

GW and Myrtle had 12 children. Miscarried the first. Myrtle and baby #12 died in childbirth from the 1918 Flu Pandemic. Not in order of birth: young dead children: Carl, Claude died after swallowing a button, Joe and a girl died of lockjaw. In total, only 6 lived to adulthood and 6 died  at birth or at a young age.

Some of James Calvin’s recollection of the Harrisons

We would visit the Harrisons when we went to Sneedville. That’s where they lived as we have mentioned earlier. Sneedville was the only town in Hancock county Tennessee.

I recall one of Myrtle’s daughter Grace, had a son named Sonny. He loved to fight. Every time we were together, he would start a fight.

Some time after Myrtle died, he married Hattie Seals she was my mothers sister. Some time later after dad's wife Mae died. Dad married my mother, Jessie Seals.

As far back as I can remember, uncle George was in a wheelchair. Uncle George Love to Trade. He would sit there in his wheelchair and figure out something he could buy from someone or sell something to someone. My mother was aunt Hattie's sister. After Lydia and had married and was living on her dad’s (Jake Winkler) farm, I traded cows with uncle George. I am not sure what state Uncle George's daughter lived, Jack and Ben had chickens houses in Rogersville and Knoxville Tennessee. John may have been with them all the time. But I know he was in business in Knoxville. I visited him before he passed away. I was living in Fairfield Glade at that time. One thing about the Harrison Boys, they thought a lot about my dad, uncle Grover as they all called him, One thing I never forgot about Tom Harrison, he was a very strong Republican and a important person in the county and city, His grandson, Tom Harrison is the county mayor of Hancock County. Mable's sister June married Randal Price, I know they had two boys Buddy and Scott . I think they also had a daughter or two. I think one of them married an Elkins boy.
